*** On the lowered desert near the sea I collected rocks and shells, and offered my burned face to the colorful swimming fish among algae and coral reefs.
I left there my love, wild as this pain that the bottom is scraping of my soul to the end, bitterness and gall sipping: hair in the wind of the sea, arid desert, that blows amid dunes and seething waves under the lash of the engine. Lulu Island is a sigh of palms on sandy hills, where time is tamed by silent contemplation.
From the airplane the landscape slips away before my sleepy eyes: the Abu Dhabi island a veiled woman seems. On my face flow dew pearls to greet the shore. with nostalgia, I think of you, my angel, so far away. Translation into French by Anne Elbet (CANADA)

Dear and esteemed poet, Franca Alaimo, I accidentally found this comment of yours that had escaped me. Going nostalgically back in time, sadness emerged in me for the distance of my second child whom I have not seen for over a year now. I fished out this poem of mine, reminding myself of those good times and the island of marine silences, Lulu island, far from the chaos of the city of Abu Dhabi. You describe my emotions absolutely well which, beyond the crystal clear waters and the desert sand that plunges into that sea of iridescent colors and tropical fish, resurface today from the past, more vivid than ever. I just hope that, after this nightmare that we are living and that seems to never end, I can finally hug my daughter again. Thanks for your welcome step. I wish you a peaceful weekend.
